Thread Measurements
The measurements of threads on imperial and metric fittings, denoted in inches, do not match the inches
on a ruler.
The measurements of this thread are:
Major - OD = 41.9mm
Minor - ID = 39.0mm
Material: PVC
Manufacturing standards: WRAS, BS-EN1452-3, BS4346-1,
BS21, ISO727, ISO7-1, DIN-2999, ISO9001, ISO14001
Jointing process: Solvent cement spigot end x BSP
thread (with use of thread sealant such as PTFE tape). For more information, refer to
solvent welding article.
Maximum working pressure: 10bar
Manufacturer: Effast*
Operating temperature: 0-60°C
Full specification sheet:
*(We usually have plenty of these in stock; however, if we have a sudden
large demand and run short, an alternative manufacturer's part, with the same specifications and as
close to the same dimensions stated above, may be supplied in its place)
The pressure rating of PVC pipe and fittings reduces with increasing temperature. To calculate the actual
pressure rating of the product at each temperature, the noted pressure rating must be multiplied by the
'de-rating multiple', as explained on our
PVC category page.
The temperature derating table of this fitting is as follows:
| Temperature (°C) |

PVC pipe has a recommended operating temperature of 0 - 60° centigrade (32 - 140°F).
This 40mm x 1 1/4" plain to threaded spigot reinforced FBSP adaptor is compatible with 40mm PVC plain socket-ended fittings, and
1 1/4" BSP male threaded fittings. The solvent weld end is not compatible with inch PVC socket-ended
fittings. The BSP female threaded end is compatible with BSP male threads on both inch and metric fittings. 1 1/4" pipe
actually has an outside diameter of 42.2mm.
The 40mm spigot end (measuring 40mm outside diameter) of this plain to threaded spigot reinforced adaptor will slot inside the
socket end of a 40mm fitting to be solvent welded. 1 1/4" male BSP threaded fittings will thread into the female threaded
end of this spigot reinforced adaptor.
PVC (or PVCU) is one of the most widely used plastics in general industry. Its ease of installation,
rigidity, WRAS approval, and low price point compared to many other plastics makes it ideal for
applications such as:
- Factories and general process industries
- Swimming pools and spas
- Aquaculture, hydroponics, and aquaponics
- Agriculture and irrigation
- Water processing and treatment
In addition, PVC pipe also finds its way into many domestic applications, including:
- Salt and freshwater aquaria
- Ponds and water features
- Home pools, hot tubs, and spas
- Micro irrigation
