A slip tee is one of the parts available from our furniture, or display, grade range of fittings. It is completely useless for a standard pipe system where there are fluids or gasses involved, because the bottom leg of the tee shape is blocked off. The slip tee is specifically designed to be used in a display-type system where you're making frames, structures, or furniture. The slip tee enables you to slide it over a piece of pipe, but that means you won’t be able to glue the fitting onto the pipe as it would spread the glue all over the pipe.

The great thing about slip tees is that they enable you to get those tricky angles that no other fitting can give you – for example, if you want something to mimic a roof, the slip tee could easily be positioned at those angles. It moves quite freely along the pipe as well, so changing the position of the angle to a point further along the pipe is also easy.

If you wanted to keep the slip tee locked in place, you could either fix it with a self-tapping screw, or you could use a plastic rivet. Additionally, if the slip tee was connecting a piece of pipe to another slip tee at a different point in the structure, that would actually lock it in place anyway. Due to the nature of some structures, this connection is all you need to keep the slip tees locked in place rather than utilising extra parts.

People sometimes use slip tees as hinges, for example on door frames, because it's free and easy to move. Obviously, if your slip tee is sitting on a vertical piece of pipe it will drop down. To prevent this, you could position another fitting underneath that the slip tee can sit on.
