Unlike slide type gate valves which are difficult to control, Spears PVC gate valves feature a turning handle (with no rising stem) to enable very fine control of flow by way of there being approximately 7-8 full rotation handle turns from closed to fully open. The lack of a rising stem (a feature found in standard gate/slide valves) prevents accidental knocking of the handle which can lead to breakage of inadvertent change of flow rate.
When fully open, the Spears PVC gate valve has a near full bore, unhindered flow pattern, resulting in low headloss and subsequently, high flow rates.
The valve features all plastic non-corrodible parts with PVC body, EDPM seals and a Polypropylene gate disc.
Servicing the valves to clear blockages etc. is straight forward and is carried out by unscrewing the top section and removing the shaft and disc section. We recommend fitting the valve with unions either end of it to save time when you need to remove the valve from the pipeline.
