Thread Measurements
The inch label for threads in imperial and metric fittings do not match the inches on a ruler.
The measurements of this thread are:
Major - OD = 59.6mm
Minor - ID = 56.7mm
Material: PVC
Manufacturing standards: WRAS, BS-EN1452-3, BS4346-1, BS21, ISO727, ISO7-1, DIN-2999, ISO9001, ISO14001
Jointing process: Solvent cement spigot end x BSP thread (with use of thread sealant such as PTFE tape). For more information, refer to solvent welding article.
Maximum working pressure: 10bar
Manufacturer: ERA*
Operating temperature: 0-60°C
*(We usually have plenty of these in stock; however, if we have a sudden large demand and run short, an alternative manufacturer's part, with the same specifications and as close to the same dimensions stated above, may be supplied in its place)
The pressure rating of PVC pipe and fittings reduces with increasing temperature. To calculate the actual pressure rating of the product at each temperature, the noted pressure rating must be multiplied by the 'de-rating multiple', as explained on our PVC category page.
The temperature derating table of this fitting is as follows:
PVC pipe has a recommended operating temperature of 0 - 60° centigrade (32 - 140°F).
This 63mm x 2" plain spigot to MBSP nipple is compatible with 63mm PVC plain socket-ended fittings, and 2" BSP female threaded fittings. The solvent weld end is not compatible with inch PVC socket-ended fittings. The BSP male threaded end is compatible with BSP female threads on both inch and metric fittings. 2" pipe actually has an outside diameter of 60.3mm.
The 63mm spigot end (measuring 63mm outside diameter) of this plain spigot to MBSP nipple will slot inside the socket end of a 63mm fitting to be solvent welded. The 2" male BSP threaded end will thread into 2" female threaded fittings.
PVC (or PVCU) is one of the most widely used plastics in general industry. Its ease of installation, rigidity, WRAS approval, and low price point compared to many other plastics makes it ideal for applications such as:
In addition, PVC pipe also finds its way into many domestic applications, including:
